The new store is located at 1106 West Burnside in downtown Portland and will open in late-March

Ventura, Calif. – Patagonia is relocating its Portland, Oregon retail store to a new location in the Burnside area of downtown. The new building, which is set in a high-traffic district, has large street-facing windows where the company plans to showcase its environmental and social activism campaigns. Patagonia Portland has a long and rich history of community involvement and environmental activism, hosting in-store community events and giving $352,000 to local environmental groups since 2002. Recent campaigns such as Fair Trade, Denim is a Filthy Business, and Vote Our Planet have resonated well in the Portland community and the new store will allow Patagonia a more prominent space to talk about important social and environmental issues.

“We are excited to be moving our store to a location where we will have a platform to be even more vocal about environmental issues,” stated Joy Lewis, Patagonia’s director of stores.  “Our store’s past sixteen years in the EcoTrust location have been amazing and we are grateful for the strong partnerships and community we built there. We are committed to strengthening those relationships and to growing our environmental activism program even more in the years to come.”

The new Portland store’s first project that will support grassroots environmental groups is an art opening program, Now More Than Ever, featuring three artists, three issues, and three corresponding non-profits. Each artist will design a window installation dedicated to an environmental issue and organization with a clear call to action. Each of the environmental groups will also host an evening of education and action to educate the community about the specific issues on which they focus their work.

The move is planned for late March and the Portland store will be closed for up to a week prior.
